Fork Lift Truck Operator Training
It is estimated that each year there are over 7000 reportable injuries involving lift trucks. Fork Lift truck accidents are frequently associated with a lack of suitable operator training.
SPS Business Solutions has a long history as a provider of Fork Lift Truck Operator training. We have the resources, expertise and experience to provide tailored training to meet company requirements. The training is designed to meet current Health and safety Legislation and Codes of Practice. All training is carried out by qualified and accredited RTITB Instructors/Examiners.
Most training is carried out on site, to enable both the instructor and operator to train in the environment that the operator will be working in.
All courses will include the following;
- Duties of operators under the H & S. A. W. Act
- Inspection and maintenance Procedures
- General rules for operation of trucks
- Truck controls and safe driving procedures
- Loading, stacking & manoeuvring
- Driving Practice
Courses available range from novice to refresher training and include the following:
Novice Training
Overview
The course is designed for participants with no previous fork truck driving experience to understand the inspection/maintenance procedures and safe operating practice of lift trucks.
Aims
To enable participants to acquire the skills and knowledge to operate lift trucks safely and efficiently. Participants will be required to pass both theoretical and practical tests.
Experienced Operators Training
Overview
The course is designed for experienced operators who have not undertaken any formal training to understand the inspection/maintenance procedures and safe operating practice of lift trucks.
Aims
To enable them to acquire the skills and knowledge to operate lift trucks safely and efficiently. Participants will be required to pass both theoretical and practical tests.
Conversion Training
(Counterbalance – Reach – Counterbalance)
Overview
This course is designed for certificated operators who may require to operate more than one type of truck. Further basic training related to that particular type of truck is required including the principles and safe operational practice. The operators must be certificated on a lift truck before attending a conversion course.
Aims
To ensure the participants have the skills, knowledge and capability to operate lift trucks safely and efficiently and successfully complete both theoretical and practical tests.
Refresher/Recertification Training
Overview
This course is designed for certificated operators who may have a change in working conditions or have not operated lift trucks for some time to refresh them on the understanding of inspection/maintenance procedures and safe operational practice of lift trucks. Operators must be certificated on the type of lift truck they are attending for refresher training.
Aims
To ensure participants still have the skills, knowledge and capability required to operate lift trucks safely and efficiently. Participants must successfully complete both theoretical and practical tests.

Duration of all courses will vary according to individual needs and number of participants.
